We got HACKED!
12 Apr
I now know what to do when incidious code snakes it’s way through the hosting company. RUN…and run very very fast. Last week we were hacked by someone or a group of people who now have very very bad kharma! We scrubbed our sites 2x and reinstalled everything to no resolve. After pressing the online chat guy about how we might avoid this, he told me that they were growing so fast that they had now become a target and they couldn’t get their infrastructure in place fast enough to deal with the attacks.
I know there is a lesson in there somewhere. The consequence for the company is that I will NOT evangelize their company, in fact, I will make sure everyone I know does NOT use this company because of my very fresh experience. You will notice that there are no images in the blog, that’s how fresh it is.. I gave them plenty of opportunities to assure me this wouldn’t happen again. Not only did I not received assurance, but I was told I was responsible for the security although I can not impact the levels of security internal to the system. I will not receive a refund because I agreed to their terms.
So when ratings and promises attract millions of customers and then we get millions of customers, but our systems are designed for thousands of customers… what does the promise mean?
So excuse the mess….we will get all of the juicy images and great links reinstalled.
I am happy to tell you the name of the company because this has been a nightmare. Please request it in the comments.
